For over 30 years we’ve helped homeless families get back on their feet and stay there.
Family Homelessness makes up 40% of the homeless population and is the fastest growing segment.

Today we need your help more than ever, because Atlanta families need us more than ever.

Fortunately, we have many ways for you to get involved. Click on the links below to get more information or continue reading this page for a quick overview of how our program works.

THE NICHOLAS HOUSE DIFFERENCE

Nicholas House. It just works.

Family First

Most homeless shelters split families up according to age and gender.  Nicholas House accepts families of any size and keeps them together, while providing them all the tools to ensure that this stay will be their last...(more)

Accountability

“Comfortable, but not too comfortable” has been the mantra around here for over 28 years.

We offer families a warm bed and a chance to get back on their feet and stay there, but only if they’re  willing to or able to take advantage of the opportunity.... (more)

Adult Education

Classes in Budgeting, Parenting and Life Skills training are not just available, but a mandatory part of our program. 24 twice-weekly evening courses address areas such as interview skills, resume writing, & budget management.

Youth Services

Homeless children are more likely to suffer from depression and behavioral disorders and four times more likely to fail their grade level. Fortunately, we’ve developed a program to address their unique needs.

After Care Followup

We keep track of our residents for a full 2 years even after they leave our program. In fact, our ability to track clients is so unique in this industry, it’s used by other homeless shelters throughout the metro area to track their former residents.
