The “Bag It” project was launched by Nicholas House, Inc. staff on September 1st in an effort to assist the Katrina evacuees in the metro area.  Nicholas House, Inc. thanks Radio One stations, Hoops Dekalb-Atlanta and Creative Loafing for assisting our efforts in getting the word out to the community. 

Through December 31st, approximately 2,250 bags (estimating more than 2.5 tons and over $40,000) of emergency supplies- hygiene products, toiletries, new undergarments, blankets, food, water, school supplies, games, baby supplies, clothing and grocery cards were bagged and put into storage containers.  All of this amazing generosity was donated by corporations, neighborhood, community and church groups as well as schools all over our area and from places as far away as New Hampshire!

Nicholas House, Inc. volunteers delivered these bags to its many community partners as well as to many new friends throughout the metro Atlanta area.
